Gin Rummy: The Fast-Paced Card Matching Classic

Gin Rummy is a legendary 2-player card game created in 1909 by Elwood T. Baker. Players draw and discard cards to build "melds" (sets of matching ranks or consecutive runs of the same suit) while reducing unmatched "deadwood" cards.

Rules & Knocking Mechanics

  • Melds: Form 3+ card Sets (e.g., 8-8-8) or Runs (e.g., 5♠ 6♠ 7♠).
  • Knocking: End the round when your deadwood points total 10 or less.
  • Going Gin: If ALL 10 cards form valid melds (0 deadwood), call Gin! for a 25-point bonus!

  • Hold Middle Cards: 7s and 8s connect to more potential runs than Aces or Kings.
  • Watch Opponent Discards: Track what your opponent picks up to avoid throwing cards they need.
