2048 is a popular single-player sliding block puzzle game created by Gabriele Cirulli in 2014, indirectly inspired by Threes.

How to Play

  • Use your Arrow keys or Swipe on touchscreens to move all tiles in four directions (Up, Down, Left, Right).
  • When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one with double the value (e.g., 2 + 2 = 4, 4 + 4 = 8, 8 + 8 = 16).
  • After every move, a new tile (2 or 4) randomly appears in an empty spot on the board.
  • You win when you successfully create a 2048 tile! You can keep playing to achieve even higher scores like 4096 or 8192.

  • Keep your largest tile in a corner: Choose one corner (like bottom-right) and build your highest numbers there.
  • Keep a snake chain: Build descending tiles next to your highest tile (e.g., 2048 → 1024 → 512 → 256).
  • Avoid moving in your weak direction: If your main corner is bottom-left, try to avoid pressing UP whenever possible so your top row doesn't collapse.
